In many communities, spiritual hosts of familiars of high pedigree as recognized as gifted children or persons, who are trained to occupy important positions in the community. These become diviners, priests, prophets, basically the spiritual guardians of the community. This is/was more common amongst the communities least influenced by modern day civilization.
Modern day civilization fuels on the premise of the denial of not just the existence of God, but of the spirits of men, let alone the supernatural world. It is the only time in history when cursing God is a very acceptable culture, the only one that denied the existence of God, and for this reason, predictably, the most short-lived. meanwhile, in these societies, are the inhabitants, full of a form of a dark godliness, yet denying its power, and using this mischief to increase their influence. It is misleading because the sons of light are not born with a knowledge of the spiritual world, unlike their counterparts who are usually active in the realms from a very early age. It has also allowed their blending into fellowships, and unequal yokings.
They are called familiar for the use of familiarity in engagements with men, especially in dreams, who would otherwise resist them. The familiarity could be of the members of the society, neighbors, family, and even departed members of the family. Familiarity is also invoked in scenery, sometimes jumbled up into a collection of divers places that would look familiar to their victim. These engagements, most consisting of pure vanity, leave the unwilling participants drain, spiritually. They feed on power. This is their wealth.
Scripturally, they are the great men of the earth for their great stature in form compared to men. Also rulers, sometimes Kings and princes for these are some of the positions they occupy in the spiritual realm. Also referred to as the rich men of the earth, brings to perspective of the rich man being required to sell his possessions before claiming to be a follower of Christ. The riches are spiritual. These are the same stored up by the wicked only to be handed over to the righteous (right now poor in spirit) at the end of the age. This wealth is gotten by unlawful means, by unjust accusations, being the accusers of men.
The presence of power over these lives of these individuals has allowed them take on masquerades, like of ministers of righteousness. They are known by their fruits. Also, in places where light is, it is not hidden, so do not look for light in darkness. They cannot be together. These riches are supposed to be submitted to God- a direction He gave in the warring times of His young nation. There, such thieves cannot reach it, and what belongs to the father, belongs to the child. This is the guarantee of the Holy Spirit. Even now, all spiritual victories and loots should be submitted to Him. It is unwise to heap up like the wicked do. This is not age lasting. Power, to Sons of God comes on demand, on season, and as the need arises. It is not for wanton drunkenness.
Idols are sometimes modeled after the actual forms of the rulers, sometimes masked, and sometimes idealized according to the imaginations of the artists. Principalities are usually represented by animals, as this is their form in the spiritual world. Principalities are the storehouses of the rulers, also their power houses, places of homage and even worship. They are wittingly quite religious. Prisoners are held in principalities. Sometimes this may be reinforced by an actually in-casing of the spirit of the victim in a form of bondage that would take a soulish predisposition under demonic control. This is the imposition of unequal yokes with the sons of darkness. The result is torment. Principalities, representing the personification of their powers into a being or a place could safely be described as the god mammoth. Like a goddess, also represented as sensual, seductive, they are often represented by women. The life of ruler is centered on this worship. For this reason, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle that for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. But with God, all things are possible.
